Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to the Final Piece macOS/iOS application (the “Application”).

We built Final Piece to be a simple, private jigsaw puzzle game. We do not run analytics, do not show ads, and do not sell or share your personal information. This policy explains the limited data the app does touch and why.

1. Information we do not collect
  • We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites (NSPrivacyTracking is set to false in our app privacy manifest).
  • We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, location, microphone, or camera.
2. Information stored locally on your device

The app stores the following on your device only, using Apple’s standard UserDefaults storage:

  • Your game settings and preferences (sound, music, haptics, difficulty, onboarding state).
  • Your personal puzzle statistics (best times, puzzles completed, streaks, Puzzle of the Day history).

This data never leaves your device unless you choose to enable iCloud sync at the operating-system level. If you delete the app, this data is removed by iOS.

3. Game Center (multiplayer only)

If you choose to play a multiplayer match, the app uses Apple’s Game Center (GameKit) service:

  • The app reads your Game Center display name and player identifier (gamePlayerID) so opponents can see who they are playing and so progress updates can be routed to the right player.
  • During a match, the app exchanges gameplay data (puzzle configuration, piece positions, progress, completion time) directly with your opponents via Apple’s Game Center match infrastructure.
  • We do not store this multiplayer data on our own servers. When the match ends, the session ends.

Game Center itself is operated by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy. You can sign out of Game Center at any time in iOS Settings.

4. iCloud / CloudKit (Puzzle of the Day)

The app uses Apple’s CloudKit to fetch the daily puzzle image and its photographer attribution from a public CloudKit database that we publish. This is a read-only operation:

  • The app downloads the daily puzzle image we have scheduled.
  • Apple may receive a request from your device’s iCloud account to fetch that record. We do not see your iCloud identity in this flow.
  • We do not write any personal information about you to CloudKit.

CloudKit is operated by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy.

5. Photo attribution (Pexels)

Daily puzzle images are sourced from Pexels and are credited in-app to their original photographer. The app does not contact Pexels directly from your device; image fetching from Pexels happens only in our internal curation tool.

6. Required iOS API disclosures

Per Apple’s App Store requirements, our privacy manifest declares the following standard APIs and their approved reasons:

  • UserDefaults – used to store your in-app preferences and statistics (Apple reason code CA92.1).
  • File timestamp APIs – used by the system and frameworks the app links against (Apple reason code C617.1).

These declarations exist for transparency; the data stays on your device.

7. Children

The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Multiplayer features rely on Apple’s Game Center, which has its own parental controls and age policies.

8. Your choices
  • Disable multiplayer: sign out of Game Center in iOS Settings, or simply don’t open the multiplayer mode.
  • Disable daily puzzle downloads: turn off Wi-Fi/Cellular when launching the app, or skip the Puzzle of the Day section.
  • Delete your data: delete the app from your device. All locally stored preferences and statistics are removed.
9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, surface a notice in the app.
